Inflammation is a factor in almost every disease, including cancer. Luckily, there are clear ways you can check to see if inflammation is effecting you right now.
CRP stands for C-Reactive Protein and its presence in the blood means that there is inflammation somewhere within the body system. The protein is produced by the immune and fat cells and synthesized by the liver. Another important thing to know about C-Reactive Protein is that, while its presence in the blood can indicate inflammation, it can also be the cause of it as well.
CRP, Inflammation and Cancer
C-Reactive Protein in the blood is usually connected to cardiovascular disease. Current research, however, shows that it is also a strong indication of the presence of cancer as well. A 2009 joint study conducted in Denmark surveyed approximately 10,000 people and discovered that there was a strong correlation between elevated CRP levels and shortened survival rates after cancer diagnosis. This is especially true for Breast Cancer, which had a CRP correlation of 95%.
Inflammation itself is often a precursor to cancer tumor formation. Too much sugar and processed foods, exposure to allergens, molds and toxins, lack of sleep and stress are all external factors that can inflame the body. When a inflammatory state reaches a tipping point, this can cascade into cell mutations that can cause cancer.
How to Keep Inflammation at Bay
Whether you have the CRP marker or not, leading a healthy, low-stress, low-impact lifestyle is the surest way to ensure that you keep cancer and other dis-eases at bay. The following guidelines utilized by Breast Cancer Conqueror’s 7 Essentials™ System are designed to do just that:
- When in doubt…go green! Be sure to include plenty of healthy oils as well as greens, cruciferous veggies and “superfoods” like kale and broccoli with each meal.
- Change up your household cleaner and body care essentials to include only natural products in order to reduce your toxic load. You will be helping the environment as well.
- Get the right amount of sleep. Most people need between 7-9 hours of quality sleep each evening. Lack of sleep can actually turn off natural cancer-protective genes.
- Manage your stress. Learn techniques such as EFT and meditation that will help your limbic system stay out of “fight or flight” mode and keep your immune system strong.
- Connect with a holistic dentist for any dental work. And if you have amalgams and/or root canals in your mouth presently, consider getting them removed. Bacteria starts to drain into your system from root canal areas immediately, eventually making its way into your blood stream and leading to inflammation and disease.
Consider Healing Herbs to Fight Inflammation
In addition to the above five steps, you can also be proactive in lowering your overall inflammatory response by adding the following herbs and supplements to your daily or weekly health regime:
- Curcumin: Research shows that curcumin (an active ingredient in the Indian spice turmeric) helps to reduce inflammation. Curcumin’s healing effects are especially amplified when combined with black pepper. Quality curcumin/black pepper supplements are available at your nearest health food store or online.
- Matcha Green Tea: Green tea contains EGCG (Epigallocatechin gallate) polyphenols which lower CRP levels. Matcha Green Tea has 100 times more EGCG’s than regular green tea.
- Magnesium: Research has shown a correspondence between higher levels of Magnesium and lower levels of CRPs.
- Vitamin D3: Vitamin D3 also reduces CRP.
- Zinc: Zinc is an anti-inflammatory and has been shown to reduce C-Reactive Protein levels.
- Cannabis: The anti-inflammatory effects of cannabinoids has long been known. Recent studies, however, show that cannabis (in smoke form) may also reduce levels of CRP as well.
Even if you are in good health, I would still suggestion considering taking the Highly Sensitive CRP Test in the near future. Tests such as this, as well as an overall Cancer Profile blood test, not only measure specific levels of certain markers, but will also give you a sound basis with which to assess the overall condition of your blood and your immune system at this time. And if you discover that you do have the CRP marker, the information these tests provide could just save your life.
